No, the5-year warranty extension from Nikon applies exclusively to newly purchased Nikkor lenses. These must be registered within 90 days of purchase by the first owner at myNikon.deregistered. Unfortunately, this warranty extension is not available for used or refurbished lenses.
The warranty extension is only valid for the original owner who purchased the lens frommyNikon.deregistered. If a lens is resold, the new owner can register the lens provided the previous owner has removed it from their account , via the serial number in its myNikon.de Add account. However, if the previous owner has not removed the lens from their account, the new owner cannot register the lens. The warranty extension remains in any case not transferable.
For data protection reasons, we have no way of accessing information about the previous owner or enforcing the removal of the lens from their account. It is the responsibility of the original owner to remove the lens from their myNikon.de to remove the account.
Even if the warranty extension is non-transferable, registration can be done on myNikon.de can be useful. If the lens is stolen and appears at a Nikon service point, the registration could help assign the device to the rightful owner.
